Giving (Up)

In February, I got into a very good rhythm of updating my blog every day. Sure, some days were just a matter of tacking a photo up or stating something random, but I was doing it. One thing that I have learned as I have gotten older (you know, because I am practically collecting social security) is that I function much more peacefully when I set myself into a specific routine. So after about a week of work -> gym -> dinner -> blog -> play with dogs/cats -> read -> sleep -> repeat, I decided to see how long I could go that way. And with the exception of the week-ends, which generally included a lot more sleep, it has pretty much worked out that way.

So, I've decided to keep going with this posting every day thing into March. I'm going to further challenge myself by blogging on the NaBloPoMo's March theme of Giving (Up). I have a feeling that by the end of the month my interpretation will be very, very loose! Hopefully I won't get frustrated and "give up" on the theme before the end of the month! (hahaha- yeah, bad joke.)

NaBloPoMo

Wow, so once again nearly a month goes by without me even glancing at my blog. It's ironic that this always happens when I am particularly stressed and start internalising things; the reason that I started a blog in the first place was to avoid that. To muse! To vent!
But then, there are some things that you don't always want to vent in a public forum. But I thought that writing something, regardless of the topic, would be a good release. Distracted with the guilt, anxiety and tension that goes along with ending a four year relationship? Write passionately about the kitten who pulled out of a hypoglycemic coma! And I still find writing something to be a release- I just don't actually do it. When I'm distracted with other things, who is going to slap me upside the head and make me sit down, write something and get the satisfaction that comes from committing to something and actually doing it?
Well, following in the footsteps of my friend Katie!, this year I will be participating in NaBloPoMo. November is National Blog Posting Month, and participating is easy; one post for every day in November. Any little post will do! I am going to go so far as to make a second goal, and post veterinary related stuff all month. With maybe some horse racing thrown in, as I never did get to put my two cents in about the Breeder's Cup. Again, distractions, distractions!
So, wish me luck! I am really hoping that posting every day in November will get me back into the habit of blogging regularly- we shall see.
