If you are superstitious....

Many, MANY books have been written on the Kentucky Derby... I know this because I have read a whole lot of them. There are always great stories behind most of the contenders- horses running for charity; a 92 year old owner who can't see the race but attends anyway; horses that nearly died as foals, suffered injuries or only brought $17,500 as a yearling; trainers and jockeys who have overcome enormous obstacles- this is all a part of the magic of the Derby, and the reason that you never know who will pull out that surprise win.

A Derby win can be based on talent, skill, luck or just a good story. With this Derby so up in the air, I wonder if the good story will win the day...

A roan filly winning the Derby on Winning Color's twenty year anniversary, only months after her death? Now that is a story worthy of Derby lore!
