And you thought this was ok because...?

Today, I saw what was the grossest looking eye.... EVER. Seriously, this one totally beat the puppy that was poked in the eye with a stick and the stick was STILL HANGING OUT. Half of the cats face was red and welted. There was green and yellow discharge pouring from the eye, and he was wearing crusted tears like eyeliner. Totally gross.
As I was asking my standard, 'how long has this been going on, any sneezingcoughingwheezingnasaldischarge, etc?' The client said, "yeah, I know it's infected so I tried pouring peroxide in his eye three times a day for a week... but it doesn't seem to be helping."

Ya think?????????? OUCH!!!! Why? Why would anyone think to pour hydrogen peroxide into any living creatures EYE? Would you do that to yourself?

Luckily, he should be fine after a few days of eye ointment. We respectfully told her that it would be OK to discontinue the peroxide treatment since the prescription product would probably work better anyway....
