All hail Home Again Pet Recovery! All Hail Mr. Nice Neighbor!
Here is tonight's adventure:
9:26pm- The cell phone rings. An 866 number. Pass
9:26pm and 15 seconds- beep, beep, beep- 866 number left a message??? Intrigue!
9:26pm and 30 seconds- "Hello, this is _________ from Home Again Pet Recovery. You are listed as the contact person for Alex ______'s cat, who has just been recovered. Please return our call as soon as possible so that we can arrange your reunion!"
Inner monologue: Wow, are these people's faces going to be red! They have confused me with someone else! Because, see there's Kody right here on my lap and... OH MY GOD!!!
9:27pm:
Alex:
clutching Kody and running down the hall
Where are our cats??????????? WHERE ARE OUR CATS????
Jon:
What??? You have Kody and Tabitha is right there and Bouvre is around here somewhere. Why are you freaking out?
Alex:
BOUVRE!!!!!!! BOUVRE!!!!!!!
shakes cat treats madly
BOUVRE!!!
Jon:
wtf is going on????
Alex:
SOMEONE FOUND HIM, SOMEONE FOUND HIM, WHICH MEANS HE WAS OUTSIDE IN THE THUNDERSTORM!!!!!
Insert unintelligible shouting and tears here.
9:28pm: I call Home Again, who asks me for the microchip number. I, fabulous pet owner that I am sob, "I didn't even know he was missing, I didn't have time to look it up yet!!!" The wonderful operator calmly took my info and told me that a cat had been reported found three minutes ago, and that she was checking to see if he was mine. Which prompted me to start to babble incoherently, "Bouvre.... male.... blue domestic shorthair.... 13 years old.... OURS!" Within moments, I was connected with Mr. Nice Neighbor who said he had returned home from walking his dog to find Bouvre on his balcony, meowing at the door.
9:30pm: Jon and I rush out into the storm, barefoot and in our pj's, to find that Bouvre, after getting Mr. Nice Neighbor's dog banished to the bedroom, has settled onto his couch and is watching TV. He is obviously not concerned. Profuse thank yous ensue.
9:35pm- Return home, where Bouvre is fed and showered with affection. We discovered that he had managed to slip through the balcony screen door, taken full advantage of being unsupervised and gotten onto the roof and then back down onto Mr. Nice Neighbor's balcony. Not a bad trick for an old man cat, right??? And he seems no worse for the wear:
(Note the yellow Home Again tag!!! YAY!!!)
Thankfully, Mr. Nice Neighbor was wonderful enough to get the microchip number off of Boo-Boo's tag and call him in immediately. Tomorrow, I am going to stop and get him a thank you card, as well as a gift card to some place.
Kody had an adventure last night... Bouvre had an adventure tonight.... what, oh what, will Tabitha be into tomorrow??????
P.S- The balcony door is now closed and locked.

OMG WORST NIGHTMARE!
I'm so glad that it was possibly the least bad as it could have been and that Mr. Neighbor was so great.
Also, I'm glad that it apparently only lasted for 11 minutes. That kind of stress will do bad things to your body, so, all in all, you lucked out.
Smooches to Bouvre. Love to you.
Cletus made me...
Thanks a lot Cletus, because that was the longest 11 minutes EVER!
